Where are last year's graduates?

Current recruitment activity suggests that there are still hundreds, maybe thousands, of graduates, still looking for work in their chosen area. The onset of the Global Financial crisis reduced the employment opportunities for many of the 2008 graduates. Whilst there are early signs of recovery, there is no doubt that it is going to be sporadic and uneven. Where does this leave 2 groups of graduates that have invested heavily in their own futures?

This is an ideal opportunity for companies that have not previously thought about employing graduates, to now do so. Graduates offer a high skill level and the capacity to bring a new approach to many businesses. Unless we can find new opportunities for graduate employment, we will lose a range of skills, as well as the capacity to actively engage with the present generation of university students.
